Go Jek

Go Jek is Indonesia's first Unicorn startup. The founder Nadiem Makarim started operation of the ride hailing company in year 2010 with just a call centre and 20 motorbike drivers.

Since then the company has come a long way, extending a wide range of localised services from bike rides, car rides, movie ticketing, lifestyle services, e-wallet for various bills payment, grocery shopping to food and medicine deliveries through Go Jek's very own homegrown app.

Taking the path of a 'super app', Go Jek is constantly adding new services and coverage areas to grow the home market in Indonesia. Latest in Go Jek's plan is to broaden service reach to Merauke, Papua following a similar expansion to Sabang, Aceh, in July 2018.

Apart from expanding the home market, Go Jek has recently launched services in other Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam and Thailand — under the brand names 'Go-Viet' and 'Get'. A whopping US$500 million will be spent and invested to realise expansion into the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam to challenge rival 'Grab'.

Today, Go-Jek’s international investors include tech giants Google, Tencent, JD, Dianping and Temasek Holdings. Currently the company is raising US$1.5 billion series E (late stage venture) fund led by Tencent.

Current Company Valuation : US$3.5 billion
